The Arab Marketing Agency and the Arab Economic Unity Council: Charting new paths for the reconstruction of Sudan through international approaches and experiences.


The working session titled “Reconstruction: Approaches and International Experiences” was held in Cairo last Thursday, August 21, under the gracious patronage of the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan in Cairo and an initiative by the Arab Marketing Organization, which operates under the Arab League’s Council for Arab Economic Unity.

The session was honored by the presence of His Excellency Ambassador Omar Al-Farouq Sid Kamal, Deputy Head of the Sudanese diplomatic mission to the Arab Republic of Egypt, and His Excellency Ambassador Al-Mohamadi Ahmed Al-Ni, Secretary-General of the Council for Arab Economic Unity. A number of diplomats, experts, and specialists from regional organizations, along with representatives from the business sector, also attended.

During the session, participants discussed ways to strengthen national efforts in preparing for the reconstruction phase and the measures required to revitalize various sectors of the Sudanese state to ensure the success of the rebuilding process.

The discussions emphasized the need for thorough follow-up on the outcomes of recent conferences and events related to reconstruction across different sectors, including civil service, productive industries, and other key areas that can drive national recovery.

Attendees reviewed several regional and international rebuilding experiences, highlighting effective platforms, regulatory frameworks, and governance models capable of attracting partners through transparency and sound institutional practices.

Participants agreed on the importance of continuing dialogue and cooperation regarding reconstruction efforts in Sudan. They also praised the role of the Arab Marketing Organization, a subsidiary of the Council for Arab Economic Unity, for initiating discussions focused on experience-sharing and showcasing global best practices. They stressed the importance of the organization continuing its efforts by developing a practical action plan inspired by successful international and regional experiences that could support Sudan’s reconstruction process.

Finally, the participants underscored the vital role expected from the Council for Arab Economic Unity as one of the key institutions of joint Arab action, recognizing the significant opportunities these institutions have to contribute to the reconstruction agenda. The session concluded with a series of adopted recommendations.
